In November, 1964, a recently widowed, uneducated Greek immigrant woman came to Cape Cod in pursuit of a small business in which she could engage and keep her family together. After looking at many different properties, she fell in love with an old lodging house situated on Nantucket Sound. Family and friends were astounded that this little Greek woman was so unequivocally definite about her decision to purchase and operate a lodging house; however, she was determined to keep her family together and believed in her heart she could do this, and did.

This woman was our mother - Ms. Efthalia N. Kossifos; and on this day, a Greek family tradition of hospitality and service dating back to mid-1700's was reborn here on the shores of Cape Cod, and is celebrating its' 40th year. Today, the tradition of service continues. We, Helen N. Kossifos and Dino N. Kossifos, are proud heirs of 'By The Sea' Guests.

Let me very quickly tell you a little about ourselves. We are one of the few Bed & Breakfast Inns on Cape Cod that have their very own private beach. Most of our rooms are oceanfront or have a view of the ocean. All our rates include a full breakfast, which is served on our glass / screen enclosed veranda overlooking Nantucket Sound. After breakfast, a walk awaits you just a few steps down onto our sandy, private beach.

There is also an oversized living room where you can while away your time in front of our Victorian fireplace or watch television on our large surround sound TV, or just enjoy conversing with interesting travelers from all over the world.

There is also an area where you can just relax with an interesting and varied choice of books, magazines or games, and for the musically inclined, a piano to play your favorite tune. In addition, for those who get the munchies, there is always fresh fruit, homemade cookies and cakes, hot and cold beverages available throughout the day or evening.

All our rooms have their own private ceramic tiled bathrooms.  All the rooms have AC, paddle fans, Cable TV with HBO.  The rooms are decorated with sheer white Priscilla curtains, white woven cotton bedspreads, colorful quilts and pillows.  We are not antiquish or elegant, but very clean, comfortable, homey, relaxing, warm, friendly and convenient!

I can go on and on. There are beautiful Houses of Worship, restaurants for exquisite dining, museums brimming with fine art, folk and sea lore, quaint antique shops, splendid golf courses and adventurous bike trails, all just minutes away.

And what have we to offer? In addition to the warm white sand of our beautiful private beach, we have comfortable rooms with breathtaking views and continual salt air breezes. And, of course, we start your day with our rich, hardy coffee or specialty teas, juice, fresh fruit, cereals, fresh baked rolls, a variety of warmed pastries, and more.
